Administrative candidates seeking assistance with resume and interview preparation will benefit greatly from this day-long workshop. Veteran search consultants (Rod Green and Karen Reiff) will discuss strategies for job hunting and highlight the qualities of winning resumes and interviews. Participants will receive feedback on their own resumes and participate in mock interviews.

8:30 a.m.

Introduction to the Program—Rod Green, Ph.D., Former Superintendent and MASB Consultant

 

Participants will divide into two groups for paperwork preparation and interview preparation

 

8:45 a.m.

Paperwork Preparation—Karen Reiff, ACRW, JCTC, MCC, LPS, Professional Resume Writer, Career Counselor

  • Resume writing; career coaching; personal branding
  • Remember your audience; review resume formats collectively
  • Individual resume consultation; letters of reference—current, relevant, strategic

Interview Preparation—Rod Green

  • Know and plan for interview format; opening and closing statements
  • Likely questions and brief, relevant answers the audience can understand
  • Handouts, 90-day plans; audience—the board, staff and public; be yourself
  • Mock interviews

10:45 a.m.

Break

11 a.m.

Contracts—Rod Green

  • Items to consider; length; automatic rollover language; salary; sick days; vacation; understanding what counts toward retirement; mileage versus car allowance; evaluation; performance goals

Billing Policy: A $25 fee will be added per attendee to any balance due as of the date of the class/event.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be in writing. A $25 cancellation fee will be charged for any and all cancellations. Substitutions are accepted in lieu of a cancellation. No refund one week from event.

MASB reserves the right to CANCEL all classes with fewer than 15 participants. Classes may be rescheduled due to weather. Registration and attendance at, or participation in MASB's conferences, CBAs and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to MASB's use and distribution of the attendee's image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such event.
