Legislative Priority Meetings Kick off Soon

DashBoard, Sept. 16, 2020

Registration for all Legislative Priority Setting Meetings is now open! These meetings will be held by region over the next seven weeks to bring together board members, superintendents and MASB’s Government Relations staff to brainstorm on what your Association’s focus should be for the 2021-2022 legislative session.

The priorities created by these meetings help guide the Government Relations team as they advocate on our members’ behalf. Priorities in past years have included increasing mental health services and resources in schools, mandatory basic board training, opposing unfunded mandates and protecting the School Aid Fund revenue streams from tax policy changes.

This year, due to the precautions being taken to lessen the spread of COVID-19, we will be holding each meeting virtually rather than in person.  They will still be held by region.

All events start at 7 p.m. Eastern and generally last 90 minutes. Please join us and encourage your local colleagues—board members and superintendents alike—to participate in these important events. MASB’s legislative agenda is only as strong as the number of voices that create it.

Registration is free through Zoom; simply click on the region meeting you would like to attend. Or, you can find all of the meetings on our evocate site. If you have any questions, please contact the Government Relations Team.
