The Michigan Association of School Boards is excited to announce that Kent Cartwright, CPA, M.B.A. joined the team earlier this month as the Director of Finance and Business Services. Cartwright comes to us from Petoskey Public Schools where he was the Chief Financial Officer for the past 20 years. He has also held finance-related positions with Gaylord Community Schools and Forest Hills Public Schools.

In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Cartwright holds a Bachelor of Arts’ in Accounting from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University.

“I am really pleased to have someone with Kent’s knowledgebase in finance, but also the added benefit of having someone who understands school districts,” noted MASB Executive Director Don Wotruba, CAE.

Cartwright is a member of MASB’s Senior Management Team responsible for leading the Finance and Business Services Department, including oversight of billing, payroll and more.

Also this month, staff member Greg Rokisky has been named Assistant Director of Marketing for MASB. His new title is a reflection of work he has been doing for the Association to define, create, develop and execute strategic marketing plans, as well as new responsibilities working with sponsorships and our annual exhibit show.

"We do our best to recognize staff who go above and beyond their role," Wotruba said. "We appreciate the enhancements Greg has made to our marketing activities and are excited to see where he is able to take his new areas of responsibility."

Rokisky joined MASB in May 2017 as the Marketing Manager. Prior to joining MASB, he served as Social Media and Community Manager at Streamline Publishing and in several roles at public relations firm, Martin Waymire.

You can continue to reach him at or 517.327.5938.
