MASB Welcomes New Staff

Three new staff recently joined the MASB team—meet them below:

Jay Bennett

Jay Bennett, M.Ed. joined the MASB team on Jan. 29 as the Leadership Services Manager. He may be familiar to our members as an Adjunct Consultant,  having taught many Board Member Certification (CBA) classes and worked with boards across the state on strategic planning, board governance and  superintendent search.

He was a special education teacher in Plainwell, and worked for several years as an online teacher and coordinator at Michigan Virtual University. He is a former board member in the Grand Ledge Public Schools, and currently serves as the Secretary on the Eaton RESA Board of Education. Jay holds both bachelors and masters degrees from Western Michigan University.

He lives with his wife and two children in Delta Township and, in his free time, enjoys cooking, hiking, biking and camping with his family.

Jay’s passion for community service and board governance along with his extensive background in K-12 education will enhance the Leadership Development & Executive Search Services team. De'Shondria Bedenfield

De'Shondria Bedenfield joined MASB on Feb. 13 as the Policy Analyst and Grassroots Coordinator in the Government Relations Department.

She is a native of Flint, with a bachelors degree in Political Science from Central Michigan University. A proud Chip! De'Shondria is passionate about education policy and would like to obtain her masters degree in Economics and Public Policy.

In her spare time, she likes to travel with her family and close friends. She also enjoys visiting local outdoor parks, as well as participating in winter sports.

Austin Pabian

Austin Pabian joined the MASB team on Jan. 2 as the Graphic Designer. He comes to us from Profiscience Partners in Texas where he created and managed e-learning content. 

Austin holds a bachelor’s degree in Creative Advertising from Michigan State University. He lives with his girlfriend in East Lansing and, in his free time, works toward building his own brand.
