For the last 31 years, the SET SEG Foundation and MASB have partnered to give Education Excellence Awards to programs that show leadership in public education and a positive impact on the lives of students. The 10 recipients being recognized in 2024 were recently announced.

Submissions were accepted for innovative educational programs as well as unique approaches to delivering education, including but not limited to:

  • Education (STEAM and Literacy);
  • Social Responsibility;
  • Mental and Behavioral Health Awareness and Prevention; and
  • Innovative Education Delivery: Bridging the gap between virtual or hybrid learning.

“This has always been a great opportunity for MASB and SET SEG to acknowledge and reward outstanding programs operating within public schools around the state,” said MASB Executive Director Don Wotruba, CAE.

Each year, districts are provided the opportunity to complete an application outlining their program, including how long it has been in operation, the audience, any outcomes and what the $2,500 grant would be used toward if they were selected. The winners also receive a trophy and “Education Excellence Award Winner” road sign. Hundreds of applications are submitted making it a very competitive grant program.

  • Detroit Public Schools Community District: Drew Horticulture Program
  • Dundee Community Schools: Peer to Peer Celebrations
  • Ewen-Trout Creek School District: Panther Den/Community Caring Cart
