The Michigan Association of School Boards is excited to announce that Jayson Larner and Cindy Holmes have recently joined our staff in the Information Technology and Leadership Development and Executive Search Services Departments, respectively.

Larner is the Membership Systems and Database Manager and has been with MASB since March 30, 2020. He comes to us from the Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association where he was the Senior Director of Information Technology. Larner has also held IT positions at the American Waterways Operators in Arlington, Va. and Capital Software, Inc. in East Lansing.

Jayson Larner

He earned his associate degree in science with a focus on engineering from Jackson Community College and is a graduate of Lumen Christi High School.

Larner oversees all aspects of the MASB membership database among other IT support services. He has extensive experience in the systems MASB currently uses.

“Although Jayson was hired to focus on our membership systems it is an added bonus that he understands all aspects of technology which adds depth to our team in that department,” shared MASB Executive Director Don Wotruba, CAE.

You can reach him at jlarner@masb.org or 517.327.5934.

Holmes joined MASB in late May as the Membership Coordinator and Registrar. She was previously at the New Covenant Christian School in Lansing as the Executive Assistant and Office Manager for the Principal.

Cindy Holmes

Holmes worked in that position for nine years managing all of the expected items that come with a school office and has also held a variety of other administrative positions over the course of 15 years.

She keeps her skills relevant through continuing education courses from Lansing Community College and is a graduate of Grand Ledge High School.

“Having a background in education, plus working with parents and students gives Cindy a good foundation in what our members do for schools every day,” Wotruba said.

Holmes is responsible for the registration process for most MASB events including Board Member Certification (CBA) classes and the Annual Leadership Conference, manages the award process, responds to member inquiries and updates database information, among other activities.

You can reach her at cholmes@masb.org or 517.327.5918.
