Two New Staff Join LDESS Department

The Michigan Association of School Boards is excited to announce that Megan McVittie, M.Ed. and Whitney Haughey, CMP have recently joined the Leadership Development and Executive Search Services Department.

McVittie is the new Certification Manager and Instructional Designer who comes to us from Kickstand Systems where she was an Instructional Designer. She has also held teaching positions at Belding Area Schools and Carson-City Crystal Area Schools, and began her career as a Reading, Writing and Math Interventionist at Forest Hills Public Schools.

Megan McVittieMcVittie earned both of her postsecondary degrees from Grand Valley State University—a bachelor’s degree in English/Language Arts in Teacher Education and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.

“Megan’s teaching background and online course development expertise will help us to expand our online Board Member Certification (CBA) offerings to give members more choices in how they engage with our learning opportunities,” said Greg Sieszputowski, M.Ed., Director of Leadership Development and Executive Search Services.

McVittie will oversee recruiting, scheduling and ongoing support of subject matter experts, content leaders and consultants for learning programs; developing and designing trainer and learner materials; development and delivery of training content for online courses/initiatives and classroom‐based training; and continuous updates to current learning content and creating new training based on the needs of the organization and our members.

Haughey joins MASB as the Conference and Event Planner and was previously at the Michigan School Business Officials and School Nutrition Association of Michigan as an Administrative Assistant with responsibility for all aspects of conference planning and management.

Whitney HaugheyIn addition to holding a Certified Meeting Planner designation, Haughey has a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University.

“Whitney comes to us with many years of event planning experience in the educational association space,” said Sieszputowski. “She already has established relationships with our major properties, and we are looking forward to her ideas on how we can continue to provide meaningful on-site experiences for our membership.”

Haughey will be responsible for coordinating and managing all in-person and virtual Association events, workshops and conferences. She will work with the other LDESS staff to manage programming budgets and revenue sources; coordinate site selections and hotel negotiations; SCECH program and credits; and pre-event, onsite logistics and event management for workshops and conferences.
